LED, A REVOLUTION IN LIGHTING...
In its most literal sense LED is an acronym for "light emitting diode", which is a semiconductor diode that converts applied voltage to light. It is the latest in very few lighting technological advances since Edison popularised the incandescent bulb over 130 years ago.
In a more practical sense LED represents a revolution in the way we light our world, providing an efficient, green and safe alternative to traditional lighting technologies. Recent technological advances in the composition and manufacture of LED chips have seen the cost of LED lights decrease and a resulting proliferation of the technology worldwide.
LED lights are available for use in all applications and on average use 90% less electricity and last 5 times longer than conventional lights. In addition they are fully recyclable, generate very little heat, and minimal ultra violet light, making them significantly safer while at the same time reducing carbon emissions and lessening our impact on the environment.
